Cyber help · the wallet card

Think you've been scammed? Three calls, in this order.

You don't have to drive to a branch to start. The first hour matters most, and the people on these numbers do this all day. Tap a number on your phone, or print the card and keep it in your wallet.

  1. 1Ring your bank straight away. The number on the back of your card, not one from a text or an email. Tell them what happened; they can stop or trace a payment faster the sooner you ring. Your bank will never rush you or ask for a code.
  2. 2Ring IDCARE on 1800 595 160. A free Australian service. They'll work out with you what's at risk and what to do next, step by step.
  3. 3Report it to Scamwatch. So the next person gets warned. If money has gone, also report it to the police online through ReportCyber at cyber.gov.au/report.

If you've been caught, you're not the fool — the system is built to catch good people.
